The Vampire's Lover: Prologue by ~dark-uke736:icondark-uke736:

Prologue

A baby’s cry shatters the peaceful sound of a village at midnight. A cloaked man runs through the streets at a remarkable speed with a child in his arms. “Hush little one,” he tells the child. “We will be there shortly.” Those words meant nothing to the baby, who cried even louder. The man groaned and ran a bit faster. He quickly turned down an alleyway until he came to a big black solid oak door, with no door handle. The man took one hand and bit down on it hard, causing it to bleed. He then placed his injured hand up to the center of the door. The baby began to coo softly. The man looked down at the child with a smile on his lips. The door began to glow a deep red where he had placed his hand and then the door opened. The man walked inside and shut the door behind him. Inside, there was a small bar where many people were talking and laughing and drinking glass after glass of all different types of beer, wine, and other drinks. The man slowly took off his hood to reveal a head of beautiful long silver hair and piercing red eyes. “Mathias!” Mathias looked to see a large man standing near a door at the back of the bar summoning him. He briskly walked passed all the people to reach the man. “Did you get it?” Mathias smiled and held the baby up to him. The large man began to peep under the blanket the baby was wrapped in. “No” Mathias scolded. “The only one who is supposed to see her is the master.” The larger man sighed and opened the door behind him. “Lord Elias is in there.” He said. Mathias nodded and entered the small room. Inside he saw three men lounging around on giant leather couches, a small boy with black hair and gold eyes playing with toys in the corner of the room and one very muscular man with long blond hair held in a ponytail and the same piercing gold eyes. When Mathias entered the room, this man stood up. “Mathias” he said in a dark and heavy voice. Mathias walked quickly towards the man and bowed before him. “Lord Elias, I apologize for my tardiness.” Lord Elias lifted Mathias to his feet. “Please tell me that you found her.” Mathias smiled and handed the infant to Lord Elias. Lord Elias held the baby carefully and went back to his chair. He then slowly lifted the blanket and held it away from the baby’s face. A big pair of shiny black eyes stared back at him. The baby smiled and cooed at the man and began to reach up at him. Lord Elias smiled at the baby and held her small hand in his. He gently turned the baby’s hand down and he saw a small crescent moon shaped birthmark on the center of her hand. “She is the one.” Lord Elias said softly. “Auren! Come here my son.” The little boy who was playing the in the corner quickly got up and ran to his father’s side. “What is it father?” Lord Elias held the baby down so that Auren could see her. The baby gave a confused look in the boy’s direction. Auren stared back at the baby. “Who is she?” Lord Elias chuckled. “She is the girl that you are going to marry.” Auren wrinkled his nose. “But father, I can’t marry her. She is human.” Lord Elias chuckled again. “That maybe, but by the time she comes of age she will be a perfect bride for you: A bride worthy enough to be the wife of a true leader. Auren looked down at the child. “She just looks like a baby to me.” Lord Elias laughed and shook his head. He then reached into his pocket and pulled out a silver necklace with a crescent moon shaped pendant dangling from it. Lord Elias gently put the necklace around the baby’s neck and wrapped the baby back inside the blanket safely. “Mathias, does the mother know about her child’s destiny?” Mathias nodded. “Yes my lord but she refuses to accept it. She said that she will let no bloodsucker have her child.” Lord Elias smirked. “We shall see about that.” Lord Elias got up from his chair and gave the baby back to Mathias. “Give the child back to her mother, with a message from me.” Mathias looked puzzled. “What might that be my lord?” Lord Elias smirked. “Her daughter ceased being hers the day that she was born.” Mathias nodded obediently and left the room.
